Documentary photography

Documentary photography just comes natural to me.  I guess because I have done so many events.  So here is a fun one.

I had my good friend, David Spiesman, out yesterday to add some wood to my Bristlecone Pine headboard.  I like my headboard out in the middle of the room so it was kind of lacking on the lower part.  My brother in law, Tommy Hodgkins helped along with my exe brother in law and still good friend, Danny Mabry.  So I was treated with my 3 favorite guys all together at once.  Neat!

Too, David is just a wealth of information on selling art.  He works from a gut feeling.  When I videoed his operation several years back it was amazing to me to watch him put a head board together.  He would take one piece and find its spot then dowel it in permanently.  Then he would take the next piece and do the same.  I would have thought that it would be totally laid out and reconfigured and reconfigured until it all looked right.  But if I think about it, I do the same in my nature landscape photography.  It is all found by feel without too much thinking. Thank you David for being my teacher. I hope to do the same with portrait photography in my new studio.
